About six miles south of Uptown, the district that grew up around SouthPark Mall and became the city's second business centre. Around it sit mid-century ranches and custom homes on larger, wooded lots, with condos and apartments concentrated close to the mall and the office towers. It is inside the city of Charlotte, with its own municipal service district for the commercial core.
