UNIVERSITY CITY HOMES FOR SALE — CHARLOTTE, NC
UNIVERSITY CITY
Built around UNC Charlotte and the research park, and now on the Blue Line to Uptown. You get materially more square footage per dollar than inside the loop, plus a deep apartment and townhome inventory.

University City formed around UNC Charlotte and the University Research Park, mostly from the 1980s through the 2000s. Housing is a broad mix: single-family subdivisions with two-story homes and ranches, townhome communities, and one of the deepest apartment inventories in the county. Square footage per dollar runs noticeably higher here than inside I-277 or in the older south Charlotte neighborhoods.
A lot of what sells here is bought to rent, so the thing to read is the HOA. Some subdivisions cap the number of rentals, set minimum lease terms or ban short-term rentals, and those rules decide whether an investment property works at all. Owner-occupants should read the same documents for the opposite reason: how much of a townhome community is renter-occupied affects financing on some loan types.
The LYNX Blue Line extension, open since 2018, runs from Uptown to the UNC Charlotte campus with stops along North Tryon Street. I-85 and I-485 meet at the north end, and Reedy Creek Park and the Mallard Creek and Toby Creek greenways are the green space.
