Northeast El Paso sits between the east face of the Franklin Mountains and Fort Bliss. The established blocks closer in are mostly 1960s to 1980s single-story brick and stucco ranches on regular lots; newer subdivisions push north and east toward the edge of the city.

With Fort Bliss next door, VA financing is common here, and a VA appraisal applies its own minimum property requirements on top of value, so sellers do well to fix obvious items before listing. On the older ranches, check how the house is cooled (many still run evaporative coolers rather than refrigerated air), the age and type of the roof, and whether additions and garage conversions were permitted.

US-54 (the Patriot Freeway) runs south to downtown, and Transmountain Road (Loop 375) crosses the Franklins to the West Side. Castner Range National Monument and the Tom Mays trails are on the mountain side of the neighborhood.
